Science

Children love to explore the world around them. They are natural scientists, because they are full of questions about the world and this sense of inquiry is invaluable.

Science is based on the principles of observing, predicting, experimenting and interpreting to form conclusions. While STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) is the buzzword in schools lately, we’ve always placed a high importance on science learning.

From earliest experiments such as a toddler pouring water from container to container in the bathtub, children are immersed in hands-on activities in the laboratory of life. The science kits we carry are geared for kids from age 3 on up, focused on engineering, chemistry, sound, electricity, paleontology, physics, geology and much more.

We carry Thames & Kosmos, Learning Resources, Smart Lab, 4M, Uncle Milton, Insect Lore, Elenco, GeoSafari, Toysmith, Workman, Dunecraft, the Portland-made Yellow Scope, and more.

Sensory skills: Observing, manipulating, exploring, hearing, smelling and tasting lead to science learning.

Communicative skills: Literacy, speeck & language, charting, drawing, writing.

Cognitive skills: Sequencing, classifying, concluding, cause & effect, predicting, interpreting.
